I'm still alive. I have been running quite a bit again, but not writing about it. As I try to figure out what I want to do with The Daily Fitness Journal moving forward, I have been training hard and moving away from my run updates. I have gone back and forth about what I want to do on here. Sometimes I want to move on. Sometimes I want to turn it into training advice and gear information. Still other times, I want to move more product based. What I do know is this, I have gone back to the old school running journal to record my training. I am glad I have done so as I didn't realize how much I missed it.
Scribbling down mileage, splits, times, etc. makes me feel committed, into it, in the moment. I guess it's like the difference between emailing a friend or writing a hand written letter. It's easier to own the words from a pen than a keyboard.
During most of my running the last couple weeks, I have been listening to a great audiobook. North, by Scott Jurek is a great recount of his quest for the Appalachian Trail record. It's told in his own word and voice, as well as the voice of his wife, Jenny.
The book is details his adventure, the people that come into and out of it, and his relationships with Jenny and all those, in real time on the AT. It's a must read/listen if you are into adventure, running, trails, etc. I love hearing it in his and her voices especially.
