06/18/2016 It's race day, I'm here...

I'm standing in the bike corral, watching the scene as athletes move about, nervously checking bikes, wetsuits, etc.  We have all checked it a thousand times, but need to do it again.

The race starts at 6:45, swimmers first. I will be on the course roughly around 7:30am and then, the training takes over.

06/14/2016 Nice tempo run on the Franklin Lakes Triathlon course, 3 days to go! @wyckoffymca

I headed up to the Indian Trail Club this afternoon to run the course ahead of Saturday's triathlon relay.  My leg is the 5 mile run, filled with awesome hills!  I fully intended to simply get on the course and jog, and mentally go over the race in my head.  After I started running, I threw that idea out the window and picked up the pace, dropping a 35 minute tempo-ish run down.  I ran each mile harder than the previous.  

The anxiety level has been rising over the last weeks, especially this week.  I was happy to be back on the course today and to run strong.  I need to trust my training and all the miles and hills I have put in.  The two difficult hills on the course come in mile 4.  I know what to expect and I have run worse hills.  My splits look like this:

06/13/2016 Not exactly a tempo run....

 I have been off for a couple days.  This is the week of the race.  Saturday is D Day.  We will see how the training has progressed, whether I like it or not.  This week, I will get in a couple runs, today being the hardest.

I ran 5 miles today and I didn't do a traditional tempo run of warming up, running snd holding a pace, then cooling down.  However, I did get out and run hard, especially near the end of my run.  The splits look like this:
