I headed up to the Indian Trail Club this afternoon to run the course ahead of Saturday's triathlon relay. My leg is the 5 mile run, filled with awesome hills! I fully intended to simply get on the course and jog, and mentally go over the race in my head. After I started running, I threw that idea out the window and picked up the pace, dropping a 35 minute tempo-ish run down. I ran each mile harder than the previous.
The anxiety level has been rising over the last weeks, especially this week. I was happy to be back on the course today and to run strong. I need to trust my training and all the miles and hills I have put in. The two difficult hills on the course come in mile 4. I know what to expect and I have run worse hills. My splits look like this:
