02/27/2015 Ridding the soreness and ending where you started

I just finished up an hour walk.  A fast walk for an hour is productive and helped loosen up a lot of soreness from my long run yesterday.  I woke up a little rickety this morning, but feel great now.  I had contemplated running again, but didn't want to over do it.

As always, walking is a great way to mentally cover topics at hand, especially an hour long walk.  I have planned whole units on a walk, prioritized monthly budgets, and mentally setup full practice schedules.  Today, however, it all went in circles and I am still up in the air about a couple main topics.  Clarity isn't always easy.  However, the sum of all the parts will eventually add up.  It's just figuring out the puzzle a bit more.

02/26/2015 Today's run and thoughts for 2015-2016

Today's run was around 1:20 at an average, comfort pace.  I didn't really care about pace, time, miles, etc.  I just wanted to get in a significant run.  I know my fitness is ok right now, but I have work to do, specifically tempo and speed work if I want to get the results I want in my upcoming races.

As I look at the next 10 months of 2015 and all of 2016, I have a stretch of time that I can really achieve some race goals I have.  As is true in most cases, it's the motivation and ability to hold motivation over a longer period of time.  I am looking to layout some specifics, on paper, in the next couple weeks.  Some of my goals depend on getting into races, proximity of some events, and getting Maura onboard with my craziness!

02/24/2015 Quick run for the day and a great link

I didn't have a lot of time this morning so I had to force in a quick run.  I ran about 25-30 minutes at a decent effort, knowing I was cutting it short.  I would say I ran around 3-3.5 miles in a short amount of time.  A short run is better than no run.  In the past, I probably would have skipped it and just figured, "Well can't do a full run, what's the point?"  I know and alway knew, it is beneficial to get out and do something.  Even a run of around 15 to 20 minutes is worthwhile.  Check out this link for some quick tips on the same topic.

In addition to the run, I am planning to brutalize myself on that damn stepper later to get in another short workout.  That thing scares me.

02/23/2015 A morning run and more water

I have been a little up and down the last few days with the #onegallonchallenge, but I am back at it.  I think the point I am trying to make for myself is simply to increase water intake over the long haul and I am doing that.

Today's run was the standard 6.5 miles-ish in about an hour.  I desperately want to run outside and the next day I see at least 35 degrees, I am going for it.  I was talking with friends yesterday and realized, besides the Cupid's Chase on the 14th, I do not know when the last time I ran outside was.  It has been too long.

I have some spring and summer events that will be here shortly, I need to set the stage for them and running inside all the time, simply won't do.
