It has been 8 days since the Running with the Devil. I am now fully rested and ready to resume running. Except for a couple final games of old man softball for the season, I have simply not done anything.
It used to stress me out taking a week or whatever off. Now that I am confident about my internal motivation for running, I actually thrive on taking a little time off. After not running for the last week, I am itching to go tomorrow and get back after it. I cannot wait to lace up and get out.
I do recognize the need for a rest sometimes though and absolutely believe I just made myself stronger by taking a week off. Coming off the race, it was nice to reflect on my performance and have some internal satisfaction.
However, that is short-lived and I am now itching to move on. I am also focused on trying to get over the hump of my performance goals. I just finished up a 4th place last week, I had a 3rd place in a 5K in the fall of 2013, and an 11th place last summer in a 5K. My goal now is to bear down, tweak a couple things, and see if I can really put an awesome run together. I am currently assessing my training and relevant information to see what I can do better. Right off the bat, I would say tightening up my nutrition would be a big step for me.
I will formulate list and plan accordingly in the coming days.
